Choose the Best Theme for Remodeling Your Kitchen in Phoenix

Deciding to remodel your kitchen is just the start, as you find that ideas are hard to come by even if the space is badly in need of an update. While functionality is an important element of kitchen design, the aesthetics play a key role in making it a place that brings the family together. Here are a few themes that will inspire you when you realize that it is time for a new kitchen.

  • Transitional – if you’re not quite sure you want to make a big change, this is the way to go. You can choose elements of a traditional kitchen, and combine them with contemporary and other styles. Your decorating choices will be easier since you can choose specific elements that appeal to you. Having a look that is tough to pinpoint leads to a more relaxed style that you can make changes to at any time.
  • Cottage kitchen – if you want a warm and cozy look, the cottage kitchen is the right approach. It is ideal for kitchens that can be used for entertaining guests or having a quiet, intimate setting. These kitchens commonly utilize open shelving and casual seating like barstools. Vintage touches work well in these types of kitchens as well. Cabinets can be painted, but weathered wood works as well. Choose a nature inspired color palette to enhance the setting. Wicker furniture and a natural wood grain countertop add to the warm atmosphere you want.
  • Modern – you can find many fixtures and accessories to give your kitchen a modern look. Your goal should be clean, sleek lines with up-to-date appliances, preferably in stainless steel. Architectural lighting works better in these spaces and window treatments should be basic if you use them at all. Modern kitchens benefit from darker wood tones and painted cabinets. For large spaces, commercial grade stoves and fridges work best.
  • Rustic or Old West – this look can be used anywhere but it is particularly popular in southwestern parts of the US like Phoenix, Arizona. Most people want their kitchens to look sleek and polished, but going in a different visual direction can work too. It makes heavy use of natural wood to capture that rustic feel. Lantern like lighting can work well in in these spaces, and using open shelving adds depth and gives the design an open feel. Use a wood or natural stone countertop, and consider stone for the backsplash.

Your kitchen’s decor actually adds to the kind of comfort you want. Combine this with a layout that provides easy movement and workflow and you have a winner.
