From Builder Grade to Modern Kitchen

This kitchen in Tempe, Arizona was old and worn out. Its builder grade cabinets were undersized, leaving our homeowners feeling cramped and ready for an update to a modern-style kitchen.

Their original kitchen was blocked off from the family room by a wall and suspended cabinets. Its pantry was undersized and hard to organize.

We worked closely with the owners to design cabinets that were custom-built to our specifications. Our design required us to remove the pantry closet and the soffits above the original cabinets. To maximize the storage, we incorporated many pot drawers into the cabinets as well as a large pantry cabinet with pull-out upper storage areas.

After removing the wall that blocked the view from the family room as well as the entrance to the room, we designed lower cabinets with built-in seating and storage for cookbooks. Above the peninsula, we created a display cabinet for some family collectibles.

We were able to maintain the existing floor tile. The owner provided matching tile for fill-in where we needed it after removing the pantry and the wall.

Other features we added included stainless steel back-splashes and LED under-cabinet lighting.

We successfully transformed this once cramped and undersized kitchen into an open, modern-style kitchen.

A kitchen remodel such as this one can run in the $50,000 to $60,000 range, depending on its features.
