Can I meet with a designer for a free estimate and discuss my remodeling project?

One of our designers would be happy to meet with you to discuss your project. During that meeting, our designer will share preliminary ideas for your remodel and give you an estimate of the budget range you are in.

How do you begin planning the remodel?

We always start with our design phase to ensure that we create the best overall plan with a budget that works for you. We always start with our design phase to ensure that we create the best overall plan with a budget that works for you.

Are there costs associated with the design phase?

We do charge for the work we do to design remodels. We will discuss the charges with you when we meet for your free consultation and budget range evaluation. Our design fee ranges from $500 to $5,000.

Can I keep the design if I decide not to move forward with it?

Yes, once you have paid the fee associated with the design phase, it is yours to keep!

What goes into the design phase?

We will start by asking you questions about how you and your family use your kitchen, bathroom or other living space you want to be remodeled.  If you have a wish list, please share that. For example, if you have gathered online photos of kitchens you admire, we would like to see them. We want to see your home and your project through your eyes so that we can add our expertise to the mix and develop the design project for you.

What is Universal Design?

This is a popular concept for multi-generational families living in the same household or people with various levels of physical ability. Universal Design incorporates elements so that all people in a single household can utilize the same amenities such as sinks, countertops, cabinets, etc.

Do you offer financing?

Yes, we do! Contact us to learn more about our financing program and how to apply.

Can you provide references?

Yes!! Upon request, we will provide contact information for clients who have had similar projects completed.

Why is it important to hire a licensed contractor?

The Arizona Registrar of Contractors (AZ ROC) is Arizona’s construction licensing regulatory agency. Per the Arizona State Statute, all contractors must be licensed to perform any construction work or litigation (unless covered by the Handyman Exemption). A business license is NOT the same as a contracting license. By not hiring a licensed contractor, you run the risk of being scammed and not having the recourse should there be a problem with your project. Home Remodels is appropriately licensed with AZ ROC and carries the required insurance, workers’ compensation, and bonds.

How much will my home life be disrupted during the process?

Most of our clients remain in their homes during the process. We do all we can to minimize disrupting your daily life!

Do I need to board my pets while my home is being remodeled?

It depends on whether your pets can handle the disruption of their favorite napping spots and on the size and length of our project. We have found that most of our clients do not need to board their pets (sometimes their spouse, though!)

How early in the morning and late in the day does the crew work?

We can accommodate most schedules. We typically work between 7:00 AM and 3:00 PM but if that time frame does not work for you we can create a customized schedule.

Does someone need to be home at all times during construction?

No, being present during the remodel is not necessary. We remodel homes for people whose primary residences are out of state. We can keep you apprised of the progress of your project via videos and photos.

What if my home has paint with lead in it?

We will analyze before your project begins to determine the levels (if any) and appropriate remedy. The lead pain was likely used if your home was built before 1978.  Homework Remodels is an EPA Lead-Safe Certified Firm.

Do Homework Remodels do exterior remodeling projects?

Yes, we do if it is within our scope of work and license.  If it is out of our area of expertise, we can provide you with a good referral.

What happens to the old countertops, cabinets, appliances, and fixtures?

You may sell them online, yard sale, or donate them!  Many of our clients donate their usable items to Stardust Building Supplies, a non-profit organization that resells them to assist homeowners living on a fixed income and who may be struggling to maintain their homes.  Items can be dropped off at any of their three Valley locations or Stardust Building Supplies will pick them up.  Any donations to them will receive a taxable donation receipt.
