NARI Master Certified Remodeler – Remodeling Leadership You Can Trust
What Is a NARI Master Certified Remodeler?
When choosing a contractor, you want assurance that they not only talk about quality but can prove it. The NARI Master Certified Remodeler (MCR) designation is the highest credential awarded by the National Association of the Remodeling Industry. It recognizes professionals with exceptional skill, integrity, and leadership in the remodeling industry.
To achieve MCR status, a remodeler must:
-
- Maintain the Certified Remodeler (CR) designation for at least ten consecutive years.
- Hold an additional NARI certification.
- Demonstrate leadership in a local NARI chapter and/or the community.
- Submit the application and required recommendation for NARI’s eligibility review. See the current master-certification requirements.
This is not a title that can be purchased. It must be earned through decades of proven excellence.
Homework Remodels – Setting the Standard
Homework Remodels founder Steve Shinn holds the NARI Master Certified Remodeler credential. The certification belongs to Steve as an individual. This means:
-
- You’re working with a remodeler who has decades of hands-on experience across kitchens, bathrooms, whole homes, casitas, and additions.
- Your contractor has been recognized by peers and industry leaders for professionalism, integrity, and expertise.
- Your project benefits from a leader who trains, mentors, and uplifts the remodeling profession nationally.
This certification reflects not just technical ability, but a career-long commitment to raising the bar in remodeling.
Why a NARI Master Certified Remodeler Benefits You
Hiring an MCR isn’t just about prestige — it directly impacts your project:
-
- Proven Experience: With decades of successful remodels, your contractor knows how to anticipate and solve challenges.
- Industry Leadership: MCR remodelers often serve on national committees, mentor peers, and influence best practices.
- Trusted Ethics: The MCR designation is rooted in adherence to NARI’s strict Code of Ethics.
- Unmatched Knowledge: Master remodelers are continuously engaged in professional development, ensuring your home benefits from the latest techniques and innovations.
- Award-Winning Quality: Many MCR remodelers, like Homework Remodels, have earned recognition through NARI’s prestigious Contractor of the Year (CotY) Awards.
The Difference Between Certified Remodeler and Master Certified Remodeler
Many contractors may hold the Certified Remodeler (CR) credential — a respected certification in its own right. The Master Certified Remodeler (MCR) designation goes further:
-
- CR = Demonstrates knowledge and skill in remodeling.
- MCR = Demonstrates sustained excellence, industry leadership, and peer recognition over decades.
This means when you hire a Master Certified Remodeler, you’re selecting a contractor who has been tested, proven, and trusted at the highest level.

- Industry Recognition: Multiple NARI CotY Awards for outstanding remodeling projects in Phoenix, Scottsdale, and surrounding communities.
