Spanish Revival Remodel

2018 NARI of Greater Phoenix Contractor of the Year Award Winner
Kitchen Remodel $50,001 – $75,000

Located in the wonderfully popular Willo Historic District, this 1938 Spanish Revival needed a little help in the kitchen. Due to the room being cut off from the rest of the home, entertaining meant spending time alone in the kitchen, unable to converse with guests. Consequently, our Kitchen & Bath designer suggested two ideas to resolve that problem. First, she designed an arched pass-through between the kitchen and the living room. As a result, guests can sit at the pass-through and engage with their host. Next, we shortened the two walls in between the kitchen and the dining room, to a pony wall height. These walls were then topped with the same white quartz that rests on new Shaker-style cabinets in the kitchen. Now our clients can interact with their guests as they prepare drinks or appetizers at their Spanish Revival Remodel in Willo.

More storage, please…

Does anyone ever have enough storage space in their kitchen? Probably not. And not in this kitchen. Before the remodel, our homeowners had a hard time finding room to store their groceries and small appliances. Due to our designer suggesting that the clients use 42″ tall upper cabinets, they now have plenty of room for everything! In addition, she added crown molding to give height to space. The multi-colored marble backsplash ties the room together. Because it contains both the white from the cabinets and countertops and a pale gray, resembling the stainless steel appliances.

Speaking of appliances…

To properly store and display their wine collection, our clients asked for a wine captain to be included in the kitchen layout. We installed an under-the-counter unit with an over 40 bottle capacity. Also, it has an added feature of interior lighting; finding that special bottle of wine is easier and it highlights your collection. We were able to reuse some of the existing appliances and add a few new ones. Because we kept the dishwasher and refrigerator, it saved our clients from that added expense. Then, we installed a new gas range, and a coordinating hood.  A new microwave drawer was added to free up the very limited counter space. There was a challenge, however, as the range had a lead time of over 2 months, it was shipping from Italy!! While that was quite a wait, our clients felt it was worth it, as they love their new range and the fabulous kitchen that surrounds it.
